Feedback on RUG 15

Feedback on RUG 15

The Rezopole User Group was held at the Rezopole premises on March 31st. Rezopole had the pleasure to receive Rémi Lapeyrade, researcher at the CNRS-LAAS; who presented the SDN project at the TOUIX IXP.

The participants discovered the TOUSIX project networks architecture as well as the equipment (Pica8 among others) and software used like the Openflow for a programmable ASIC configuration.

The TouSIX project is focused on research. The infrastructure is above all a technical and scientific demonstration seen as a typical model applicable to the SDN transition. However, the results show that it is possible to take radical routes (programmable ASIC) consistent with production environments.

The SDN advantage in this context is to improve the scalability, resilience and security. The advantage is also a better control of networks equipment.

Ronan Bianic from Rezopole team presented a report on the Juniper hackathon (project in partnership between Juniper and France-IX) that was held in Paris. The presentation was about the network deployment automation technologies via "ansible" and the VXLAN implementation,  tunneling technology above IP.

These points should be examined in greater depth, that would probably be the theme of the next RUG.

JDLL on Avril 1-2, 2017!

The JDLL organization committee organizes the 18th edition of the Open Source Software Days on April 1st and 2nd, 2017 in Lyon. La Maison Pour Tous, Salle des Rancy and the ALDIL (The Lyon-based Association for the Free Software Developpement) offer a sharing time where all audiences, curious, amateurs and enthusiasts, meet.

This year for the 18th edition of the Open Software Days the theme will be (Dis)connected society, behind the transparency...

Come discuss different issues such as:

  • Connected Objects: human mechanical software, when technology get mixed up.
  • Politics: when democracy get defied by algorithm, when transparency rhymes with security.
  • Conviviality: (re)Creation, Revolution, build and open, code and community.
  • Éducation: upside down society: Encryption, formatting, hardware or Big data, what is hiding behind these barbaric words?

Many events are projected for the program during these two days. You are welcome!

on Thursday, 16 March 2017 Posted in Archives Rezopole, Archives LyonIX

Direct peering with Google is available on LyonIX!

We are pleased to announce you a Google peering interconnection at LyonIX (AS15169).

A LyonIX member since 2016, Google provided until now a service via dedicated Google Cache.

Important: this new peering is only partly available via the LyonIX route-server. To get a complete access to the Google contents (search engine, gmail, google-doc, youtube, etc.) you have to set-up a direct peering with AS15169.

 How does it work?

First, have your entries at PeeringDB completely updated and acurate.

Then set-up this direct peering:

  • If you have an isp.google.com access, you can make a request following the tickets > request new IX interconnect option.
