With London Access Point (LONAP), England has joined the inter-IXP peering at LyonIX. All the members of this English Internet eXchange Point can peer with those of LyonIX through announcements made by the two IXP route-servers.

This international agreement adds to previous interconnections: Italie-France with TopIX (Internet eXchange Point in Turin), Switzerland-France with CIXP (Internet eXchange Point of the CERN in Geneva) and Bulgaria with NetIX (Internet eXchange Point in Sofia).

This new extension was immediately confirmed by the traffic which has been established once the link was opened. The Rezopole team is at your disposal for any information concerning this new interconnection. You may also consult the weather-map of Rezopole in order to discover the rest of the inter-IXP regional and national connections!

We are pleased to announce you a Google peering interconnection at LyonIX (AS15169). 

A LyonIX member since 2016, Google provided until now a service via dedicated Google Cache.

Important: this new peering is only partly available via the LyonIX route-server. To get a complete access to the Google contents (search engine, gmail, google-doc, youtube, etc.) you have to set-up a direct peering with AS15169.

 How does it work?

First, have your entries at PeeringDB completely updated and acurate.

Then set-up this direct peering:

• If you have an isp.google.com access, you can make a request following the tickets > request new IX interconnect option.

• Or you can request it at isp.google.com/iwantpeering.

Peering between the Auvergne - Rhône-Alpes and the Languedoc-Roussilon-Midi-Pyrénées regions becomes even easier thanks the very high speed connection set-up in collaboration by LyonIX, the IXP & NAP of Lyon, and TOUIX, the IXP and Telecommunications Marketplace of Toulouse.

The French version of the reference book on peering by William B. Norton is now available for the french community and the Rezopole members. EX Rezopole's communication manager, Irina Trentea, translated the book and team members Samuel Triolet and Arnaud Fenioux have contributed with technical knowledge and feedback in order to make this manual as accurate as possible.

“I am very happy the Internet Playbook is now available in French and can profit to a new extended public. I strongly hope it will help the french community to better understand how the internet works and also contribute to the development of many regional and national IXPs across Africa. A big thank you for the LyonIX team who made all this possible ! “ says the author, William B. Rezopole has set up an alternative filtering method of its members BGP route advertisements on its Route Servers : RPKI + ROA.

This method enables to check that BGP advertisements of interconnected members are correct and that the given prefix matches the AS that sent it.

Filtering on the RIPE data base

“Before using the RPKI + ROA method, we were only filtering using the RIPE objects from the RIPE data base. Thanks to the two implemented methods we can now do a thorough check of routes that we communicate to our members on our main Cisco Route Server” states Arnaud Fenioux, Technical Manager at Rezopole.

Exaprobe company is now connected to LyonIX 2A POP and will be able to improve its Internet throughput quality and peers with other Lyon IXP participants.
